There’s something about seeing a city from above that gives you a whole new perspective. You suddenly realize how big and vibrant it is, and yet how peaceful it feels when you’re away from the hustle and bustle. For me, the Singapore Flyer was exactly that. Towering 165 meters above the ground, it’s one of the largest observation wheels in the world and offers an unparalleled view of Singapore’s skyline. From Marina Bay to Gardens by the Bay, and even as far as Malaysia on a clear day, this isn’t just a ride—it’s an experience that leaves you in awe of the city’s beauty.
And if you want to see this adventure for yourself, I’ve got you covered! 🎥✨
We’ve captured everything from the incredible views to a complete walkthrough of the Time Capsule experience, so you can join me on the ride.
For those of you who may not know, the Singapore Flyer isn’t just an oversized Ferris wheel. Oh no, it’s much more than that. This towering 165-meter beauty—one of the tallest observation wheels in the world—has been offering some of the most spectacular views of the Lion City for years. From its inception, it became a symbol of Singapore’s forward-thinking, innovative spirit. The thought of rising up to see the entire city unfold beneath me sent a little thrill through my veins. It was time to get on board!
Travel
The: Journey Begins
Located in the heart of Marina Bay, the Singapore Flyer is a must-see attraction for travelers from all walks of life. Getting there was a breeze.
The easiest way to reach the Singapore Flyer is by using the MRT. Take the Circle Line or Downtown Line to Promenade Station (CC4/DT15).
From there, it’s a five-minute walk, and you’ll find a bridge directly connecting you to the Singapore Flyer entrance.
Several bus services stop near the Flyer. You can take buses Service 56, 75, 77, 171, 195, or 960. The nearest bus stop is located along Raffles Avenue, just a short walk to the Flyer.
If you’re driving, you can use the nearby parking at the Singapore Flyer Carpark (East Wing) or the nearby Suntec City Mall. From Suntec, there’s a pedestrian bridge that takes you right to the Flyer.
For convenience, you can take a taxi or use a ride-sharing app (Grab, Gojek) and head to 30 Raffles Avenue. Taxis can drop you off right at the entrance.
Exploring The Time Capsule
Before stepping into the famous glass capsules of the Flyer, I was in for a surprise—a little detour that made the whole experience even richer. Enter the Time Capsule, an immersive, multi-sensory journey through the history of Singapore. Picture this: vibrant visuals, interactive storytelling, and cutting-edge technology all blending together to transport you through Singapore’s past, present, and future. I strolled through, wide-eyed, as the nation’s story unfolded before me—its journey from a sleepy fishing village to the bustling, high-tech metropolis it is today.
The Time Capsule isn’t just a historical exhibit; it’s a futuristic art piece, using color and movement to captivate you at every turn. As someone who loves a good story (especially one with a dash of tech), this was a perfect prelude to what was about to come.
Up, Up, and Away
Finally, it was time. I stepped into the capsule, joining a small group of fellow adventurers, all as excited as I was. The doors closed with a gentle swoosh, and we began our slow ascent into the sky. The feeling was surreal—almost like we were floating above the city.
During the 30-minute ride, the city of Singapore slowly revealed itself in all its glory. By day, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel stood tall like a futuristic sentinel. The lush greenery of Gardens by the Bay stretched out beneath us, its famous Supertrees dotting the landscape. The Singapore River snaked through the heart of the city, glittering under the sun’s gaze. And if you’re lucky (or if the weather gods smile upon you), you can even catch a glimpse of Malaysia and Indonesia in the distance! It was the perfect combination of thrill and tranquility, and yes—I had my camera out the whole time. This place is Instagram gold!
When to Catch the Best Views
The question everyone asks: when’s the best time to go? Well, it all depends on the vibe you’re after. Personally, I’m a sucker for the golden hour, and here’s why: if you visit around sunset, you get the best of both worlds. The Flyer spins you up into the sky just as the sun dips below the horizon, casting a magical glow across the city. Then, as the minutes tick by, Singapore transforms. Neon lights flicker to life, and the city begins to sparkle. Trust me, the night views are nothing short of spectacular—especially when you see the skyline light up like a scene straight out of a sci-fi movie. Here’s the all possible time you can explore:
If you’re someone who enjoys clear, panoramic views of the city, head to the Flyer during the late morning or early afternoon. You’ll get a chance to see Singapore’s skyline in all its glory, with famous landmarks like Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, and the Singapore River. On a clear day, you can even spot Malaysia and Indonesia in the distance.
Want something a little more magical? Visit during the golden hour, just before sunset. As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, the city is bathed in a warm, golden glow, offering a perfect setting for photos. Then, as day turns into night, you’ll witness the city’s transformation as the lights begin to twinkle. This is one of the best times for a truly breathtaking experience.
For a completely different vibe, take a ride after dark. The city comes alive with a dazzling display of lights, and the Flyer gives you a front-row seat to some of the most beautiful nightscapes in the world. Marina Bay and the Singapore River shimmer under the city’s glow, making it a romantic and awe-inspiring time to visit.
Tickets and the VIP experience
Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. Ticket prices are pretty standard for an experience like this. Adult tickets go for SGD 40, while kids under 12 can fly high for SGD 25. If you’re a budget-conscious traveler, these prices are pretty reasonable for such a world-class attraction. But here’s the fun part: if you’re in the mood to splurge, the Singapore Flyer offers some swanky packages. Think champagne flights, where you sip bubbly while floating above the city, or a romantic sky dining experience where your capsule becomes a private restaurant. For families, they’ve got special deals too, making it a great stop for everyone!

How Long Should you Plan?
Now, here’s a tip from a seasoned wanderer: give yourself at least an hour for the Flyer experience. The ride itself takes about 30 minutes, but between taking photos, exploring the Time Capsule, and maybe grabbing a snack afterward, an hour is a good amount of time to soak it all in without rushing. And if you’ve got time to spare, plan for a half-day adventure around Marina Bay to truly appreciate all the sights this area has to offer.
Wrapping Up the Day
As my capsule glided back down to earth, I couldn’t help but feel a little awestruck. There’s something about seeing a city from that height—so quiet, yet so grand—that makes you fall in love with it all over again.
